Across the Stars

Due to our planet's atmosphere our holotrans system is occasionally out of range for regular holotransmissions. Sometimes we have to revert to the old-style of communication by sending a hand-written letter to those we keep in touch with. I thought it would be nice to share some of the ones that I have recieved from family and friends far away.

Dear Willsie,

How are you doing? It hasn't been that long since we all parted but man do I miss you guys. Jonas has me working all hours in the clinic so I don't get much time to have any fun. Just as well I guess; can't get into any mischief. <g>

I really like being a veterinary assistant. Especially for Jonas. He's fantastic with animals and I've learned so much from him. I might consider going to that college that he went to and become a vet myself. He says he thinks I'd make a good one and that we could have a joint practice. If you ask me, he just wants to unload some of his patients on me. Poor guy is so popular here that he hardly has time to sleep these days.

We have a really nice place that's in back of the clinic. We each have a room (of course...don't get any ideas) and the usual kitchen, common room, etc. It's small but it's just the two of us and we aren't there that much anyways. A lot of times we're out in the field delivering babies or doing a little paramed work if the patient can't come to us. It's always interesting and never the same thing twice.

How's everyone? I'll bet Graystar has grown an inch since I saw him last. I really miss him but I know that he's better where he is. I wish I could change things that happened in the past but I can't so all I can do is try to be a good mom to him now. I guess part of that is letting him do what's right for him. With Dash as his Master, I know he's going to grow up to be a great man.

And Soryn, he must be getting big huh? I talked to Grandfather the other day and he told me that my little nephew has started at the Academy. Wow...amazing how time flies. He'll be passing his trials in no time. Speaking of kids, I hope everything's okay with you. You must be around five months preggers now. I hear it's a girl this time. I can imagine Dash is thrilled about that. I'll bet you guys have a name picked out already. Take care of my new little niece, Wills. As in....don't think you're capable of doing EVERYTHING. Sheesh...Dash is probably flipping out everytime he sees you heading out the door. I wish you both all the best and I'm planning on coming to see the little Rendster as soon as she pops out. Too bad I'm not there now. I've had enough experience with animals I could probably deliver the kid. Ha, I can see you cringing. Don't worry, I saw enough of your butt when your were a kid. I don't care to see it again.

Hey say hi to everyone for me will you? Tell Auresta that I'm doing great and I think about her a lot. She's a good friend Wills, but I know you know that. And tell Koshay that I really miss her cooking. <hint hint> Nothing like her tarts to be found on Alderaan. I sure would love some for my birthday.

I miss you guys tons but I'll see you soon. Sorry, but you're not rid of me yet ;)

Jonas says to say hi and to tell Gray that he sends his love. I've gotta go, we have a momma nerf who's about to give birth. Can you believe people keep these things as pets?

Dear Wills,

Hey sis, just thought I'd write this between races. I'm pretty busy what with the actual races and travelling the circuit. It's been quite a while since I saw you guys last and I've gotta tell you, I miss you. All of you. I didn't realize how much I'd grown to care about my 'new' family until I was all the way across the galaxy. But you know, that's okay because I know you're only a hyperjump away and one of these days I'll be swooping down on ya.

I stopped in to visit Cae and Jonas last week when I raced on Alderaan. They're doing great and I've never seen Cae happier. Jonas either for that matter. They make a great team. They had this Nerf in the clinic that was having babies. I've never seen Cae so excited about something. She was a real pro, Wills. You'd be proud of her. That momma nerf kept popping out babes and Cae just kept grabbing them and cleaning them up and handing them to Jonas. Jonas remarked later that he thinks Cae is a natural and should go back to school to be a vet. I shook my head at that one but in a nice way. It's just hard to believe how much she's changed since I first met her at the Jedi Temple. Unbelievable.

Anyhoos....I'm doing pretty darn good. I've entered the Grand championship race on Tatooine. It's a pretty hard one, but I'm confident I can come away the winner. You know me, cocky as always. But hey, I'm the best around and everybody knows it. I just have to watch out for sabotage. There's a lot of that goes on in swoop racing.

I have to admit though, it gets lonely on the circuit. I've got Neely but, you know, he's a guy. 'Nuff said.

Say hi to everyone for me and tell them they aren't rid of this swoop jockey just yet. I have a race coming up in a few weeks near the Ando system so I'll try to stop by for a visit. Give my nephew a big hug from Uncle Jodin and tell Gray I've got a little something for him from a neat place I visited a while back. He's gonna love it.

Take care sis, and tell that husband of yours I heard he got the Outrider back in action. I knew he wouldn't stay out long. We'll have to take the Unforgiven and the Outrider up for a little race of our own when I get there. Yeah I know, I can expect a biff upside the head for that one. You know me, racer at heart.
